Gus Etchison is having himself a huge season to move himself into one of the top juniors in Indiana. The 6’0” junior is a point guard at Hamilton Heights High School and is averaging a monstrous 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists per game.

Etchison earned his first scholarship offer last July from Western Michigan. Since then he has been able to earn additional offers from Incarnate Word and IUPUI. A long list of other schools nationwide have been recruiting him including Ball State, Central Michigan, Indiana State, Marquette, New Orleans, San Diego State, Toledo, Williams & Mary, plus many others.

“Somewhere that fits my style, plays fast, and feels like home,” Etchison stated on what he is looking for in his future college. So far, he has taken visits to Ball State, IUPUI, Miami (OH), Purdue, and Western Michigan. He is planning on taking visits to Incarnate Word, Wright State, as well as a second visit to Ball State. Additionally, he is planning additional visits over the next several months.

The guard had one of the more impressive single game performances earlier this season. Back in December, Etchison was able to put up 56 points in a single game versus Mt. Vernon. “It was a crazy feeling. I’ve never felt more locked in than ever that game. I’m glad I could break the scoring record and be able to do that,” he stated about his impressive performance.

With his big year, Etchison has been able to help Hamilton Heights to a 14-7 record. “I enjoy the group of guys, we get along fairly well, and it is overall a really fun group,” he mentioned when talking about the current season. Hamilton Heights will get started in the Indiana State tournament next week on the third when they will be playing on the road versus New Castle High School. The junior is striving to win a sectional and regional title in the coming weeks.

Look for Etchison to continue to attract more college interest and offers as he plays with EG10 this spring.
