Class of 2021 players in Indiana are quickly coming off the board. Last week point guard Kristian Lander of Evansville Reitz High School committed to Indiana and now power forward Caleb Furst of Blackhawk Christian High School picked Purdue. Some of the other juniors in Indiana to have also already made a commitment include Treyton Thompson to Minnesota, JR Konieczny to Notre Dame and Jayden Taylor to Butler.

He announced his commitment via twitter Monday night stating “proud to be a Boilermaker.” Furst is a consensus top 40 junior in the entire nation.  Purdue initially offered him almost two years ago back in April of his freshman year.

Furst picked Purdue over a long list of other high major schools. He also had scholarship offers from California, Indiana, Louisville, Marquette, Maryland, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford, Virginia, plus a few others.

Furst marks the first commitment for Matt Painter and the Boilermakers in the class of 2021. However, they have three signees for the class of 2020. The class includes center Zach Edey of IMG Academy (FL), guard Jaden Ivey of La Lumiere School (IN) and guard Ethan Morton of Butler High School (PA).

Over the last several years Painter and staff have done a tremendous job recruiting and developing big men. The list includes Matt Haarms, Isaac Haas, and Caleb Swanigan.
