The second session of the NY2LA Grassroots Sessions continued to showcase plenty of talent from the 15U level. Here are ten players that stood out the most over the course of the two days.

Riley Brooks – TH 2023 – G
The sophomore is a very lengthy 6’5” wing guard that knows how to score the basketball at a high rate. Has a very good-looking jumper from deep and hits them at a high percentage right over defenders. While he did the bulk of his scoring from beyond the arc, Brooks was also able to get to the basket and hit shots off the dribble in the mid-range. He did a good job finishing around the paint with his length.

Chris Djurasovic – Chapman Elite – F
Djuarsovic had another stellar outing proving to be one of the better 2023 forwards around. The versatile forward made his biggest impact controlling the offensive glass. He was able to score on numerous put backs as opponents just did not have an answer to keep him off the boards. Also added a few baskets off the dribble. Played big inside blocking a few shots in the paint.  He has good strength and mobility to get so much done on both ends.

Owen Freeman – Midwest Prospect Academy – C
Incredibly strong 6’9” 2023 post that can play. For the second week in a row, Freeman completely controlled the inside on both ends. He was able to score the ball very well on the block posting up, even through double teams. Some of his best offense came off missed shots, as he cleaned up the offensive glass and put many of them back in.

Brock Harding – Midwest Prospect Academy – G
Once again Harding proved to be one of the top players at the 15U level. Such a high-level point guard that is tremendous with the ball in his hands. Has highly elusive quickness and moves to allow him to get wherever he wants on the floor. Was always getting into the paint to draw help defenders and distribute it out to open teammates. Has incredible court awareness to always find the open man and knows where to go with the ball.

Bennett McCormick – JH1 Elite – G
Strong 6’3” wing guard that plays with a great energy and does a bit of everything to help his team win games. Did the majority of his scoring going downhill to the basket to either score there or draw fouls and make it count at the line. Good perimeter defender with his quickness and motor but also willing to take on larger opponents inside. All game he was outworking others to grab rebounds on both ends.

Milan Momcilovic – TH 2023 – F
Momcilovic is a well-rounded wing forward with a great amount of skills to go along with his 6’8” height that is proving more and more he is one of the top sophomore in the entire Midwest. Even with his size, he moves very well going to the basket and has good body control finishing around the hoop. He also showed off a great looking jumper from three in multiple games during session two.

Domonic Pitts – Chapman Academy McCabe – F
Pitts is a strong and tough 6’4” forward that both scored and rebounded at a high rate. The sophomore plays big on the court. Scored the ball in a variety of ways, but did the bulk of it going to the basket hard on drives and cuts. Was able to get to the basket often and finish strong through defenders in the paint. One of the top rebounders at his level, grabbing everyone near him.

Will Starks – World Hoops Elite – G/F
Starks continued to show that he is one of the best drivers at the tournament. The 6’4” wing uses his quickness and toughness to get by his man very often and finish amongst post at the basket. Put up some big points in multiple games mainly off of his drives.

Stephen Teasley – REACH Legends – G
The lanky and bouncy 6’4” guard had one of the more impressive showings of all and has great upside. Does a very good job attacking the basket with his long strides and good moves to score in the paint plus the mid-range. Impressed with good vision and passing ability. As well, Teasley plays tough defense out on the perimeter. He is able do so much already with a quality skill set and athleticism but is only a sophomore.

Jamisen Young – World Hoops Elite – G
Young is just an incredible driver with all of his abilities. He has elite quickness accelerating to pair with his great shifty moves and tight handle. His ability to change direction in an instant makes him near impossible to stick with for even skilled defenders. Finished the ball around the paint with either hand or used a good floater to score over the top.
