While these players have yet to step on the court of a high school game, many of them still came to play to have impressive showings.  Here’s a glance at a handful of 2024 standouts from the 2020 installment of the NY2LA Sports Futures Camp

James Brown – F/C – 6’9” – St. Rita (IL)
While just a freshman, Brown is already 6’9” with a good frame and mobility. He showed a good ability to score around the paint finishing strong as well to moving well around the basket to give himself scoring opportunities. While there was plenty of talent and size up against him, no one seemed able to defend him or keep him off the glass.

Terrell Gaines – PG – 5’4” – MVBT Liberty (MO)
Gaines is a point guard who is good with the ball in his hands and scored it well from beyond the arc as well as in the mid-range. Has a nice ability to quickly shoot it off the dribble and knock down his jump shots. Additionally, he showed off some good court vision.

Mercy Miller – G – 6’4” – Minnehaha Academy (MN)
Miller was one of the top players in the underclassmen portion of the camp. He is a young guard but already has good size and athleticism to go along with plenty of skill. The freshman is very good with the ball in his hands with his ability to get the basket and finish well but just as easily pull up from beyond the arc and hit jumpers over defenders at a high percentage.

Josh Senica – G/F – 6’3” – LaSalle Peru (IL)
A tough freshman who played very big with a great motor throughout all his games. While giving up a few inches to players in the paint, Senica was still able to rebound and score inside nicely. Showed a good ability to finish in the paint through contact scoring on put backs and attacking the basket.

Daniel Smythe – G – 6’1” – Orchard Lake St. Marys Prep (MI)
Just like his older brother, Daniel has a pure jump shot from three. He does a good job moving without the basketball to create good separation and knocks down his jumpers when he has a good look.

Jax Zader – PG – 5’11” – East Troy (WI)
Zader was constantly getting into the interior of the defense to be one of the top scorers from the 2024 group. Not the biggest, but has good strength to finish well around the basket in addition to being a crafty finisher.
