Southern Indiana landed one of the most coveted division two recruits in Illinois when they received a commitment from Jack Mielke. Last season as a junior at Downers Grove North High School the 6’7” forward averaged 14.7 points to go along 7 rebounds per game.

Mielke picked Southern Indiana over a long list of scholarship offers from schools nationwide. This list included Hillsdale College, Indiana Tech, Lewis University, Northern Michigan, North Georgia, Northwood, Palm Beach Atlantic, Rockhurst, and Truman State. In addition to having interest from a few division one programs.

“I didn’t want to risk an opportunity I really felt I would enjoy and would benefit me for something I may not like as much that may seem better that would come if we were to potentially have a season. The decision was right to me,” Mielke stated on why he decided to commit now.

When asked why he picked Southern Indiana, Mielke said “I don’t know how to explain, but it’s just what felt right to me.” As well to saying, “I feel like I connected really well with the coaching staff and players, and when you add that to great facilities, academics, and it feeling right, I felt like it was the right decision.”
