Earlier this week, East Carolina University picked up a commitment from Javon Small. Small is currently a senior at AZ Compass Prep. The 6’3” point guard previously attended Franklin Central High School (IN) before this year and played with the George Hill All Indy program.

Small had been one of the more sought after mid-major points guards in the 2021 class earning himself offers from Akron, Ball State, Grand Canyon, Indiana State, IUPUI, Kent State, Miami (OH), Purdue Fort Wayne, and Southern Illinois.

East Carolina has just recently offered Small a few weeks ago back in February. The other schools in his top four included Ball State, Grand Canyon, and Southern Illinois. He will be joining a large recruiting class for the Pirates that already includes guard RJ Felton, forwards Marlon Lestin and Tay Mosher, wing Alexis Reyes, and post JaQuan Scott.

Small is a skilled two-way guard. With his great quickness, he is a tough on-ball defender. On the offense end, he has a good ability to create for himself and teammates. He is a versatile scorer that can knock down perimeter jumpers and get to the rim in addition to being a skilled passer.
