An under the radar breakout performer with 94 Feet Elite this year was Derek Collins. He had multiple stellar tournaments this year on the NY2LA Association. Collins is a 6’3” guard in the 2025 class and attends Gary West Side High School (IN).

By the end of the summer, he was one of the better two-way guards on the NY2LA Association at the 16U level. “My season with 94 Feet was good. We had a good season playing against some of the top EYBL teams. I feel like I played well this summer for 94 Feet,” Collins said.

“Smooth” is how Collins describe his own game. “I like to get to my spots on the court at all times, that’s where I’m at my best.”  Game after game he really excelled on the defensive end with his on-ball pressure. At times with 94 Feet Elite, he was taking over games with his ability to force turnovers at a high rate. He has a nice blend of length, quickness, and defensive intensity to excel on that end of the floor. Offensively, he has a well-rounded game and stands out with his play attacking the basket creating for himself and others. One aspect of his game Collins is looking to improve is creating his own shot off the dribble.

For his upcoming high school season and beyond, the junior has multiple goals. “Win a sectional, regional title. I would like to go down state this year, that’s my main focus and goal. Beyond this season, “hopefully get looked at to possibly become a division one athlete.” Look for Collins to truly emerge this upcoming season with his abilities on both ends of the floor.
