The 2009 NY2LASports.com Swish & Dish Spring Warm-Up was one of the premiere events this past April as teams from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa all rocked the courts for 3 days in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While the All-Tournament teams and championship performances have been released, today we take a look at 10 impact performances from this year's event from Class of 2010 prospects
Note - These are not in any particular order
6'9" F Adreian Payne - All Ohio Red
One of the premiere available bigs in the 2010 class, Payne was a man among boys at times as his size, athleticism, versatility, and pure dominance at times was a thing of beauty to watch all weekend long. While teammate Jared Sullinger generates the most hype at this point and time, Payne may actually have the most upside and potential as this raw explosive forward drips with high major impact potential. His performance during the Swish & Dish was arguably the tops of the entire tournament and he grabbed Co-MVP honors as a result.
6'1" PG Aaron Craft - All Ohio Red
One of the most underrated talents nationally in the 2010 class, Craft is a model of consistency and quality play whenever he takes the floor. His Co-MVP performance during this year's Swish & Dish Spring Warm-Up was evidence of that. He's savvy, skilled, has excellent instincts, big time range, and is always in control. While others may be more explosively athletic, Craft knows how to play and he's the guy you want with the ball in his hands and the game on the line because something good will happen.
6'6" F Jereme Richmond - Mac Irvin Fire
No single player showed the ability to take over the game scoring the basketball at the 17U division than Richmond who did whatever he could to help his team win the game. He attacked the rim, stroked the perimeter shot, and was virtually unstoppable at times when he got it going. No matter the team or the talent, Richmond was up to the challenge and displayed the takeover ability at times that is very rare for most prospects. He firmly supported his spot as a top 10-15 talent nationally in the 2010 class with his performance at the Swish & Dish.
6'6" F Chip Rank - Wisconsin Swing Selk
One of the most underrated and underappreciated talents in the 2010 class for the state of Wisconsin, the Swing pulled off some big time victories and it was the play of Rank that fueled those efforts. Tough, physical hard nosed blue collar talent with solid athleticism and the ability to score around the basket and dominate the boards. Rank's no nonsense approach and max effort gave everyone fits and he displayed improved skill that should open some eyes with college coaches come July. Exceptional performance for Rank.
6'8" F Dominique Ferguson - SYF Players
The versatile forward from Indiana showed exactly why he's regarded as one of the premiere available forwards left in the 2010 class. He's long, has some decent athleticism, and he can play inside or outside. At times Ferguson turned it up and it was then that he dominated opposing forwards and made the biggest impact. Really just scratching the surface of his potential, Ferguson was true to his ranking at times and after recently de-committing from Kentucky you can expect a host of high major programs to line up for him come July.
6'7" F Calvin Godfrey - DTA Devin Harris Superstars
Another of the underrated prospects regionally, Godfrey continues to evolve into an absolute beast in terms of rebounding and finishing around the rim. Already a lethal shot blocking forward at times, Godfrey has excellent strength, solid athleticism, and the ability to be a double double machine at the next level with hard work. Godfrey was a man among boys at times in the paint and continued to show his improved development every time he took the floor.
6'2" G/F Rayvonte Rice - Illinois Rising Stars Gold
This tough physical athletic wing talent turned in monster effort at the 2009 Swish & Dish Spring Warm-Up. The tough physical talent attacked the rim, stroked the jumper, and was lethal on the offensive end throughout the tournament. Rice is an exceptional athlete both in terms of explosion and strength, but his skills and range continue to evolve making him a tough cover whenever he takes the floor. Rice was sensational at times and helped lead the Rising Stars Gold squad to the championship game as a result.
6'2" PG Andy Fox - Wisconsin Swing Shaw
One of the biggest sleepers in the 2010 class for the state of Wisconsin, Fox did not disappoint as the skilled instinctive young floor general from Hartland Arrowhead was exceptional at times including a 35+ point effort that saw him showcase his ability to attack the rim, stroke the jumper, and create havoc on the offensive end. Bottom line is this kid has excellent instincts, can attack the rim, sees the floor well, and strokes the jumper. An excellent soccer player making him a 2 sport star, Fox is a must see for any mid major program looking for a floor general in the 2010 class this July.
6'7" F Zach McCabe - All Iowa Attack Red
Another of the quality "knows how to play" type of talents that just gets it done. Highly skilled, excellent awareness, and nice size, McCabe already has secured an offer from Iowa and you can expect others to follow suit if he performs to expectations this summer. He has excellent range, solid footwork, sees the floor well, and attacks the glass at times. McCabe makes teams better and helps teams win and that was on display at the Swish & Dish this year time and time again.
7'0" C Myers Leonard - RameyBasketball.com
Arguably the premiere true center in the 2010 class, Leonard blocked shots, grabbed rebounds, and scored at will at times. He's got a solid mid stroke, decent footwork, and nice instincts for an up and coming big and was true to his national ranking with a number of strong performances during the Swish & Dish Spring Warm-Up
