Mequon, WI – The final day of the NY2LA Next Level Invitational saw some great plays and teams that survived to become champions.  Here are a few of those who stood out and boosted their stock.

 

Boyd was a big part of Team Ramey’s run in bracket play as they came up just short.  Going 5-2 on the weekend Boyd got to the paint and set up his wings in transition throughout the tournament.

 

Madden is relentless for this version of the AUSA platinum squad.  His energy as a point guard is contagious and it’s easy to see why so many coaches came to watch the emerging talent.  He helped AUSA win the 17U title in front of a loud and supportive contingent of every other AUSA team on Sunday.  His shot making and passing gave them plenty to cheer about. 

 

Jones had 17 to help WI Premier into the title tilt where they ultimately ran out of gas.   Jones knocked down a huge three while getting fouled with about 5 seconds left to make it possible in the semifinal and it was his activity and effort that helped fuel the comeback.

 

Clay did not look out of place playing up 2 ages in the 17U open division.  He looked the part of a prospect with huge upside.   The 6-5 wing showed a strong mid-range game and played with good tempo never getting rushed while making good reads when he had the ball in his hands. 

 

Cook came up huge for Gain Elite with 21 points in the semifinals.  He was good in transition and showed touch from deep with 4 triples.   

 

Green was one of the best guards in the 17U division and helped power MI Playmakers to the championship with his relentless style and leadership.  Against WI RAP in the semis he dropped 13 while helping to coordinate a stingy defense.   Easy to see why his squad was the eventual champion. 

 

White stood out again helping the Storm take the 17U Association Silver title.  Bouncy and quick with his pull up game he was making big shots every time I looked up.  After surrendering the lead late he made the game winner to cap an outstanding weekend.  

 

Martin dropped 23 points for a Player’s Advantage to help them advance to the title game of the Gold bracket.  The guard from Rochelle, Illinois was solid all weekend and knocked down some big shots throughout the tournament.

 

Lenton was outstanding the Platinum division title game with 5 3’s for MI Playmakers.   The big guard helped his squad pull away and earn the championship with 18 points to lead the way.  

 

Williamson was a must watch for college coaches all week and he didn’t disappoint in the championship tilt on Sunday.   The skilled big was efficient and pumped in 22 points to help the Aussies bring home the hardware.   He is being pursued by multiple Division 1 programs and there were quite a few who stuck around to watch him. 

 

The young guard was productive Sunday helping the Phenom University team advance to the championship of the 17U open division with a tough 1 point win in the semifinals Sunday morning.  His 18 points were huge for the eventual runner up.
