The Spring Extravaganza showcased plenty of talent with many high-level games over the course of the weekend. College coaches from across the entire nation flocked to the tournament. With many standouts, here is part one of the top performers.
Nick Basson – 2023 – SG – Rocky Mountain Select
The junior had one of the more impressive scoring displays in his last game of the tournament scoring 26 points. He is a knockdown shooter with a great stroke spotting up hitting five threes in that game alone. The 6’2” guard also scored it effectively going to the bucket on drives and cuts. Basson is a smart guard that knows how to play.
Xavier Booker – 2023 – C – George Hill All Indy
There is so much to like about Booker’s game as all his skills have come together. There are just so few players out there at 6’11” with his athleticism and length that can consistently knock down threes and move well with the ball attacking the basket. Booker was tremendous throughout the weekend including a 25-point performance. It’s no surprise that Tom Izzo was front and center all weekend for him and now Duke has gotten involved in his recruitment. He also picked up an offer from Missouri following the tournament.
Durral Brooks – 2024 – G – The Family
Another big weekend by Brooks who continues to cement his spot as one of the top 2024 guard in the entire Midwest. Brooks plays so well on the attack aggressively going to the basket. Brooks continued to score it well all weekend including a 25-point outing. He is a skilled finisher around the paint as well as to scoring in the mid-range plus is a skilled passer.
Nazir Brown – 2022 – PG – 3D Empire
Brown was key for 3D Empire from the start of the tournament hitting a buzzer beating game winning three-point jumper in their first game of the weekend. The unsigned senior can impact the game in a variety of ways; defense, distributing, and scoring. An elusive guard that is tough to stick with scoring well from all over, but his best attribute may be his defensive play. He is an aggressive defender that gets all over the ball and is tough to beat off the dribble.
Demarion Burch – 2023 – G – Team Haliburton
The bouncy guard showcased his scoring ability at the Spring Extravaganza getting it done in a variety of ways. Burch was scoring it very effectively going to the basket on drives and cuts. He has very good moves with the ball in his hands to not only get to the basket but also create his own shot and knock them down at a high percentage.
Braylon Dickerson – 2023 – G - The Academy
A good size 6’4” guard who can really score the ball as well to having a good all-around game. He had a 27-point game scoring it in a variety of ways. He moves well with the ball to create his shot from deep and in the mid-range as well we get to the basket. He uses his size well to finish around the basket in addition to playing with good energy outworking defenders to get baskets around the paint.
Nick Evanson – 2023 – G – Minnesota Comets
A high IQ playmaking guard that can do so much on the offensive end showing a great ability playing both with and without the ball. A good decision maker with the ball who can get to the basket, create his own shot, and distribute the ball too. A hard-working guard with good overall game.
Corey Hadnot II – 2023 – PG – Team Temple
The point guard has a good combination of skills and positional size at 6’3”. Throughout the tournament Hadnot scored the ball very well with games of 24 and 19 points but can also create for his teammates. He maneuvers very well with the ball and has good vision reading the floor. He was shooting it well spotting up from three over the weekend but is also so tough attacking the basket.
Brock Harding – 2023 – PG – Mid Pro Academy
There isn’t much I already haven’t said about Harding but he continues to play at a high level and force his way on to this list each tournament. He continued to do his thing as the floor general behind this ultra-talented Mid Pro squad that knocked off a loaded George Hill All Indy team and impressed all tournament long. He continues to be one of the most elusive players around and was shooting the three consistently over the tournament. Harding continues to improve his ability and show he is not just one of the best playmaking point guards in the Midwest but nationally.
