As well to the top performers and stock boosters, these five all stood out with their play throughout the NY2LA Sports Invitational.

Braylen Blue – 2023 – PG – Movement Hoops

The lengthy 6’5” guard had himself another strong weekend in helping his team make it to the 17U platinum title game. His jumper has continued to improve as he is developing himself into a knockdown shooter. He was able to hit five threes in a single game. Blue also excelled on the attack creating for others with his vision and passing ability. 

Gavyn Hurley – 2023 – G – Wisconsin Swing

Hurley continues to be a standout with Swing, starting the tournament off with a 19-point game. With his size in the backcourt at 6’5”, length, and well-rounded game, Hurley continues to be one of the more impactful guards on the NY2LA Association. He scored it very effectively spotting up from three but also played well off the dribble and is a good decision maker on the move with the ball. 

Kon Knueppel – 2024 – SG – Phenom University 2024

Knueppel is one of the most consistent, high IQ, and skilled sophomores in the region. Every tournament he continues to play at a high level and this one was no different as he helped Phenom win the 17U platinum title. Not only is the 6’5” two guard have one of the purest jumpers but also sees driving lanes to get into the paint and finish. While he is known for his scoring, his defensive play impressed over the weekend playing with good toughness. 

Matthew Moore – 2023 – F – Chicago Lockdown

Moore showed tremendous upside with all of his tools. Not only is he 6’9” with a good frame but still moves well. Much more than just a big body however, Moore can knock down shots from the outside as well put the ball on the floor. He’s a quality shot blocker that defends the paint effectively but can also defend wings on the perimeter and switch onto guards. He has plenty of tools for the next level. 

Raevon Thomas – 2022 – F/C – Michigan Warriors

Thomas is a long 6’8” big man that shows plenty of promise. He was at his best playing down in the paint on both ends where he was a very impactful player. He moves well patrolling the interior and is a true rim protector blocking and altering plenty of shots. On the other end Thomas scored it strong finishing on put backs and dump offs.
