Tom Izzo and assistants have been front and center all spring and summer for Xavier Booker and his George Hill All Indy team games and it all paid off for them. On Saturday, Booker of Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, announced his verbal commitment to Michigan State.

It was only a few days ago that Booker announced his top ten and has now quicky cut that list to just one. The 6’11” senior forward chose the Spartans over his other finalist of Auburn, Cincinnati, Indiana, Gonzaga, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, and Purdue. Duke and Kansas were amongst his other offers but did not make his final ten.

Booker has continued his rise to be one of the top 2023 prospects in the entire nation while playing with the George Hill All Indy program. After entering the spring unranked in many national rankings, he has shot up into the top five in the entire nation. He is an incredibly unique prospect with his combination of size, length, mobility, and skills. There are few big men at the high school level that have his ability to make plays off the dribble and knock down perimeter shots.

He now makes up the second member of Izzo’s 2023 recruitment class. He joins four-star point guard Jeremy Fears in the class who recently announced he will be a part of Overtime Elite this upcoming season.
