After receiving a few offers from NAIA program over the course the course of the summer, Gavin Welch has now added a division two offer to his list. During the past few months, the senior small forward of New Castle High School (IN) and the Kyle Guy Elite program, was offered by Bethel, Indiana-East, Oakland City, and University of Mobile.

This newest offer for Welch came from Barry University, a division two program in Florida. “Barry is a huge offer, they are competitive every year in division two,” he said. Welch is looking forward to taking a visit to Barry, plus has a visit scheduled next week to Lincoln Memorial.

When speaking about the schools that have offered him, Welch said “All of them have qualities that I like… All the schools have their unique characteristics that I like.” Also mentioning how Bethel stood out to him for playing in the Crossroads League, being one of the “top conferences” in the NAIA.

“My game is very versatile,” Welch first said about his play on the court. Adding in, “I think I’m one of the best shooters in the state of Indiana and being around 6’5”, 6’6”, I can play inside a little bit. I can guard the two, three, and four and depending on the team I can even guard the one or five…There are a lot of things I can do that I just don’t really think other guys my size are capable of.”

Even with all his offers, Welch is in no rush to make a college commitment. “I would like to play out my senior season a little bit to see what happens, but I think I’d like to be committed by Christmas.”
