With the speculation turned fact of Ed Cooley will be making the move from Providence College to fellow Big East foe Georgetown, Garwey Dual has opened up his commitment from the Friars. The 6’6” guard of So Cal Academy and George Hill All Indy instantly becomes of the top available players in the 2023 class now.

Just roughly a year ago, Dual was an unknown prospect nationally in the 2023 class. He had a breakout performance at the NY2LA Swish N’ Dish Tournament and quickly went from a player without a division one offer to a top one hundred players nationally. Following his breakout spring, he announced his commitment to Cooley and Providence back last June.

“Due to the changes in the coach staff at Providence I will be decommiting and reopening my recruitment…forever and thankful for the support Friars,” Dual tweeted out shortly after the news of Cooley’s departure.

With all of his tools, Dual is one of the top two-way guards in the entire nation who can play both guard spots. He possesses all the traits to be a lockdown defender at the college level with his length, quickness, athleticism, and defensive intensity. Dual is also a skilled playmaker off the dribble who can score from all three levels.

Look for Dual to be a highly sought-after player in the coming weeks. Before making his commitment, Arizona State, Butler, Dayton, DePaul, Fresno State, North Carolina State, TCU, VCU, among others had all offered him.
