There was a great deal of talent at this year’s Spring Extravaganza at the 16U level. Here are the players how had themselves high level tournaments.
Jaiden Claybrook – 2025 – SF – Team Mookie
One of the more impactful players at the 16U level with all of his tools. He has good physical tools with some size at 6’6” and length as well to his great athleticism. With his moves and long strides, he scored it efficiently going to the basket but can also hit shots spotting up from three. He also contributed greatly with his tough defensive play and rebounds anything near him.
JonAnthony Hall – 2025 – PG – D1 Indiana
One of the better two-way guards at the 16U level. A very tough on ball defender with his athleticism and energy, Hall is so tough to beat off the dribble. On the other end, he showed a good jumper spotting up from three but is also very explosive attacking the basket. Hall has plenty of translatable tools.
Howie Keene – 2025 – SG – Team Temple
Keene has a pure jumper from the outside to be one of the top shooters of the tournament and can get his shot off with ease standing at 6’6”. He started the tournament with a 29-point game hitting five threes and continued the scoring from there to help Team Temple go undefeated. More than only a shooter, Keene has a good all-around offensive game with good feel and high IQ plus defends well.
Peyton McDaris – 2025 – G – Yanders Law
The sophomore continues to show he is one of the top 2025 scoring guards on the NY2LA Association over the past couple of years. A marksman from the outside that had himself a 24-point game on Saturday. He is a high percentage shooter from the outside but also plays well with the ball in his hands attacking the basket. Following the tournament, he picked up an offer from Milwaukee.
Matthew Johnson – 2025 – F – Bayou City Hoops
As well to standing at 6’8”, Johnson has good strength and an aggressive style of play. He plays big down in the paint on both ends overpowering opponents, scoring on a high percentage of his paint touches. While he can be a force playing inside, he still moves well defending out on the perimeter as well to showing some offensive perimeter skills hitting threes and putting the ball on the floor.
Trevor Polite – 2025 – SG – Chapman Basketball
There is so much to like about the game of Polite. He has great size in the backcourt at 6’6” with good length, athleticism, and a highly versatile game. He has the ability to be a primary ball handler and can knock down threes but can also utilize his size to score over smaller defenders in the post. He already has plenty of tools for the next level and was a big reason for his team going undefeated.
Ross Robertson – 2025 – F – MTXE
Robertson continues to string together big games leading his teams to wins and boost his stock. On Saturday, the 6’8” forward was near dominant in the paint scoring and rebounding at a high rate. Even against opponents with some size, Robertson still could not be matched down low aggressively grabbing every board. A tough mismatch however as he also plays well out on the perimeter.
Nsikan Usen – 2025 – F – D Rice Elite
Usen is already a talented and highly impactful wing forward but shows even greater upside. In a game Saturday, he scored 15 points scoring all around the paint but contributed even greater with his defensive play and rebounding. He stands at 6’5” but plays even bigger inside with his length and energy but also has the athleticism to defend very well out on the perimeter.
Redick Zolman – 2025 – PG – Team Focus
One of the more all-around skilled point guards at the 2025 level of the tournament. Zolman is such a complete guard that was doing everything Saturday morning leading his team to a large victory. A very active player who is effective running the point, hit shots from the outside, rebounds well from the backcourt, plays strong attacking the basket, and is a skilled passer.
