It’s been a big season on the GNBA at the 14U level and that continued into the GNBA Championships this past weekend. With all the talented teams at the 14U level there was plenty of competition for this list.
Donovan Davis – 2027 – PF – Grind Elite
One of the top big men of the tournament who already plays at a high level and shows great upside as well. He was a big reason his team advanced all the way to the championship game amongst a very tough 14U field having some impressive wins along the way. He stands at 6’6” but there is so much more to like about his game. He moves well for his size and skills continue to develop. He scored the ball on an exceptionally high percentage of his post touches but also moves well with the ball playing on the attack. Additionally, a skilled passer out of the post or in the high-low, a rim protector, and one of the top rebounders of the tournament.
Wes DuCharme – 2027 – G – Wisconsin Swing
Throughout the tournament, DuCharme was one of the top scorers of the tournament having himself multiple twenty point plus games. A highly skilled scorer with good versatility getting it done in multiple ways. The wing guard shoots it very well off the catch from the outside but can also create his own shot. He plays with good toughness on the attack often battling through contact to finish in traffic inside.
Darren Grandon – 2027 – F – Martin Brothers
One of the more consistent scorers of the entire tournament that was a big piece of Martin Brothers run into the 14U semifinals. Game after game he was getting into double figures with multiple twenty point plus games. He has a nice blend of size and agility to go along with a motor that just doesn’t quit. Whether it was in transition running the floor hard or finishing at a high rate around the paint Grandon was constantly scoring around the basket.
Max Jones – 2027 – G/F – 24Up
Jones has consistently been one of the top players on the GNBA and that was no different this tournament. He was a prominent reason 24Up advanced to the quarterfinals. The powerful do it all wing had multiple big scoring games including 23 in the quarterfinals, 19 on Saturday in bracket play, and 20 to start the tournament on Friday. Jones hit several threes during the tournament but is at his best attacking the basket strong playing through contact where he can be unstoppable playing downhill.
Dion Lane – 2027 – PG – Powerhouse Sports
As well to be one of the better point guards on the GNBA this season, Lane has also consistently scored it well. Including this tournament with a 22-point game on Saturday and then turning it up a level for 28 on Sunday. While I’ve seen much of Lane’s high-level play coming on the attack creating for himself and teammates, on Sunday he went and knocked down six threes in a quarterfinals matchup.
Trey Resch – 2027 – G – Chapman Basketball
This weekend Resch proved he was one of the top scorers of the entire tournament. This included a 26-point performance in the quarterfinals but also played well throughout. He has such a pure jumper spotting up from the outside but was also very effective attacking the basket and finishing the ball in traffic.
Hayden Schroeder – 2027 – F – M14 Hoops
It was another big tournament for Schroeder as he has continued to shine this season on the GNBA. A well rounded forward with a high skill level with size and athleticism. A standout right from the first game of the tournament going for 21 points. Schroeder was unstoppable on the offensive glass and finishing on put backs as well to posting up and attacking the basket. The next day he upped his 21-point game going for 29 points.
Terriyon Webster – 2027 – G/F – Team Ramey
One of the best scorers of the tournament who was in double digits every game including a 22-point game. A shifty wing who did the bulk of his scoring attacking the basket but also drilled four threes in a single game. Much more than just a scorer, he is a complete player that can lock down defensively with his length and defensive intensity as well to being active on the glass, blocking shots, and passing it well.
Mikey White – 2027 – PG – Team Herro
White started the tournament in a big way with a 21-point game and continued to play well from there. All tournament he showed his knockdown shooting ability, hitting five three pointers in that first game alone Friday. Much more than only a shooter, he also has good point guard skills and was constantly playing with plenty of energy on the defensive end pressuring the ball.
