Next up for the coverage from The Final Chapter is part two of the 17U stock boosters.
Terrance Hill – 2024 – PG – Indy EBC
It has been a big July for Hill who has put together impressive back-to-back tournaments after being a standout at the Summer Jam tournament. He is a real dynamic playmaker who excels with the ball in his hands. Hill moves extremely well with the ball to be able to get into the paint but even better ability to create his own shot and knock down tough ones at a high percentage.
MJ Murphy – 2024 – PG – Predators Elite
Just another talented guard from this Predators team that can really play having himself a stellar July. He is a high energy point guard who stood out most with his shot making off the dribble but also has a skilled all-around game. A real playmaker with the ball who started the tournament off with 15 points and had multiple big games during the four days.
Max Parrish – 2024 – SG – Midwest Basketball Club
A skilled 6’3” wing guard who knows how to play. He was at his best playing on the attack often getting all the way to the basket. A crafty guard who maneuvers well with the ball getting plenty of paint touches for himself and was very effective finishing right over big men at a high percentage.
Nolan Segner – 2024 – PF – Team X-Magic
In both games I saw of Segner, he played very well flashing all of his skills. He has some size at 6’7” and played well both down in the paint as well as out on the perimeter. Segner uses his size and toughness effectively battling in the paint on both ends of the floor scoring, rebounding and forcing tough shots. As well, he also shot the ball at a high percentage spotting up from three.
Cody Schmitz – 2024 – G/F – Wisconsin Blizzard
Now back from injury, Schmitz has been playing at an extremely high level and was a big reason the Blizzard advanced all the way to the championship game. He has a good combination of a versatile offensive game, stands a 6’5”, and with some strength and quickness. During bracket play he kept having efficient scoring games in the upper teens getting a lot of it done from the outside and scored it from all over the floor.
Isaac Schultz – 2024 – PF – Team Focus
Over the course of multiple games, Schultz greatly impressed including a 17-point game on Friday. On both ends of the floor the 6’7” physical forward was making plays. With some good post moves and touch, he scored it well posting up but also scored driving to the basket. He moves well around the paint creating space for himself in addition to grabbing rebounds in bunches.
Daniel Smythe – 2024 – G – Team Rose
Over the weekend, Smythe proved to be one of the top shooters of the tournament. Up against Phenom University on Saturday, he hit five threes knocking down his jumpers at a very high percentage. The 6’3” combo guard is also effective playing with the ball in his hands, has a high IQ, and plays tough on ball defense.
Brandon Tilley – 2024 – SF – Wisconsin Swing
Tilley started the tournament with a 21-point performance in a win and continued to play well from there. One of several standouts from this deep Swing team that helped them win five games over the course of the tournament. Around the paint Tilley plays bigger than his listed 6’5” height with his strong build scoring the ball very aggressively in traffic but also did plenty of his scoring from the outside consistently hitting threes.
Julian Young – 2024 – PG – Downriver BadBoyz
A skilled point guard that should be on college coaches’ radars. Not only a skilled scorer going for 18 points in his opening game but also plays the point very effectively with all his abilities. He plays smart with the ball in his hands and operates well in traffic maneuvering amongst defenders making plays. Young has a good ability to finish all around the paint, shoots it well off the dribble with deep range and creates well for his teammates.
